Bella Rosa's Little River aka
Dante
8/9/2005
It
is with deep sadness that I
announce Little River was lost
this morning in a house fire. It
was his birthday, having turned 6
months old today.
River's
owner, Debbie Farinello, had
renamed him Dante, meaning long
life. She had given him a truly
wonderful home on the Isle of
Palms, where he swam in the ocean
and played on the sand every day.
Although he had only 6 months on
this earth, he couldn't have
asked for a better home or
life.
Below
are some pictures and excerpts
from his owner, Debbie.
Deb, we will be thinking of
you.
Here is
River and his best friend, Rocky.
Rocky woke the household in the
wee hours of the morning,
alerting them to the fire that
literally burned their house to
the ground. There were children
sleeping upstairs on the 2nd
floor. Because of this dogs
actions, those childrens lives
were saved. Rocky is truly a
hero.
River
is a great dog. Here he is
"living large in SC" with a treat
from his new best friend from the
NY Butcher shop, and another shot
of him w/ his new pack, all
smiles. He is a great addition to
our family.
I
researched most of the corso
breeders in the US before I chose
your dogs for not only their
beauty, your knowledge about the
breed and their care, but their
relationship w/ children and
other rescue dogs. All of those
qualities are why I chose your
kennel, and when I found out
about River he touched my heart
and I had to have him as part of
my family.
River
fits in fine, he loves day care,
the beach, his buddies Rock and
Bell, and of course, me. I'll
keep you posted on his progress.
"He is
VERY loving and friendly to those
he knows. More puppy like all
the time in the house. Only
bigger! He is well mannered,
listens to me, comes when he's
called, stops when I say no,
never pulls on leash, and rarely
leaves my side off leash unless I
run and make him. He grumbles
like a lion kitten when he's
patted and really at ease. He
look like a big stuffed animal,
and he almost never has an
accident in the house. I've
never had a puppy that was born
smart and listened to me w/o
months of training. It's great.
He's taken over a leather couch
in the den (yes I let the pups on
the den/dog furniture) and is
almost 3/4 as long as it now when
he stretches out, all legs and
feet.
OK,
enough dog talk for now. Dante
says thanks for the cool home!
My new leather couch is very
comfortable! /Debbie"
"Rock
and Dante are really cute
together. Dante gets jealous
when I pat Rock, he comes over
and grabs my arm away with his
giant mouth. This morning at the
beach Rock was playing w/ a
golden in the water, and Dante
ran into the water and grabbed
Rockey by the neck to "pull" him
away, it was hysterical. The
golden owner, who'd seen Dante in
the "shadows" before was
surprised that he was playing and
I pointed out he was jealous of
the goldens attention! Just like
kids ;) I went early today,
around 6:20, not many people or
dogs were out, Dante ventured out
30 feet from me or so and played
with Rock, ran in the waves. We
had some fun. He has the cutest
face I've ever seen. Almost
looks like he's always laughing!
Like a big clown.
Dante
barks and grumbles at noises in
the house, when we are in the
den, he turns his head to see
where the noise is coming from
and sees himself in the glass
door! He goes into alert mode
every time. He is funny. His
protective nature is perfect. I
have rescued dogs for so long, I
have never been able to actually
choose a dog for me. Dante is
perfect."
